As with all the blogs I’ve ever had, I’ve left them behind. This time it’s not because I’ve not taken any photos, I spent two weeks in England. I just wasn’t amazingly happy with most of the photos I took.
Apart from this one of a church. We were lucky in that the weather wasn’t great on a few of the days.
WHAT! I hear you cry, and yes the rain wasn’t so nice, but the clouds do add a lot of interest and reduce the high contrast shadows that the sun tends to leave.
This image is a fake HDR image. I don’t think at the time to take bracketted images, but I do take on RAW. This means using photoshop I can create three differently exposed images from the same raw. -2, 0 and +2 Then I use photomatix to create a blend of the three exposures. This gives the clouds definition without making the foreground dark. If you search for HDRI you’ll find some stunning examples. it’s amazing how much it’s used now. Some are really obvious and that’s the style the photographer is going for. Others are more subtle and natural, the way our eyes see things.
Hopefully this photo leans towards that more. Check the gallery for all the photos from my trip.
